Season & tournament

One registration covers October to April. Here's how the year goes.

The year

From first skate to tournament day.

  1. September

    Skate assessment

New players skate with the coaches. Registration opens through CAN.

  2. October

    First practice

Meet the coaches and the team at Britannia.

  3. October to April

    20 weekly practices

Same day, same time, same rink.

  4. Spring

    Tournament day

The CAN Adapted Hockey Tournament. Optional, and the highlight of the year.

Every week

One hour on the ice.

Practices have the same parts each week: warm-up, skills in small groups, games, and a friendly scrimmage to finish.

For the full step-by-step, see Your first practice.

CAN Adapted Hockey Tournament

Fourteen teams. One big day.

For over ten years, adapted hockey teams from across BC have met for a day of friendly competition. In 2026 it filled the Surrey Sport and Leisure Complex on March 28.

The tournament is an optional club-level activity, organized with families.

On top of the weekly CAN program, the team can add extra practices, personalized jerseys and the tournament. These are funded by the team and run by a parent or caregiver Club Manager with a parent committee.

Families get the details at the start of each season.
